Good Faith Estimates
Your rights under the No Surprises Act
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your health care. If you do not have health insurance or choose not to use it, you can request a written, itemized estimate before receiving services.
When you should receive an estimate
Schedule 3–9 business days ahead: receive your estimate within 1 business day after scheduling.
Schedule 10 or more business days ahead: receive it within 3 business days after scheduling.
Ask before scheduling: receive it within 3 business days of your request.
Federal rules generally do not require an estimate for care scheduled fewer than 3 business days ahead. You can still contact us with questions about costs.
Request your estimate from PCC
Call our office at 865-328-2376 or email admin@powellcounselingcenter.com and ask for a Good Faith Estimate. Please leave sensitive health details out of general email. Tell us whether you prefer a paper or electronic copy, or need help accessing the information.
Your estimate reflects the services and charges reasonably expected for your care. Unexpected services may affect the final cost. An estimate does not require you to receive treatment. Keep a copy or photo to compare with your bills.
If your bill is higher than expected
If a provider bills you $400 or more above that provider’s Good Faith Estimate, you may qualify for the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. Start the process within 120 calendar days of the date on your initial bill. CMS currently charges a $25 administrative fee.
You may contact us about a billing concern. For eligibility details and instructions, visit CMS: Dispute a medical bill. Using the dispute process will not negatively affect the quality of your care.
Rates and more information
Our Insurance & Fees page lists general rates. That page and our printable fee sheet (PDF) are not a substitute for your individual Good Faith Estimate.
Read the official CMS guide to Good Faith Estimates, or call the No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059. If you use insurance, your benefits and cost-sharing depend on your plan; see CMS medical bill rights for additional protections.
